SEV Content & Workflow Planner

Product Overview

One piece of content at a time, from idea to reuse. For someone who plans, shoots, edits and posts alone.

Content is production work, and production work needs a system. This planner follows one piece from idea to brief, through making and editing, to publishing and reuse.

Part one decides what you make: who it is for, where it will appear, and a content bank that gives every idea one home. Part two makes the work: a one-page brief for each piece, a batch day planned in advance, and a finishing checklist. Part three publishes and reuses: one page a month showing where every piece stands, a map for using each piece again, and a log of the permissions your work depends on. Part four reviews the evidence once a quarter.

Two worked examples show a fictional photographer's brief and month, filled in. No social network or app is named, so the planner does not date.

Who it is for

  • Photographers, videographers, designers and makers who produce their own content.
  • Freelancers and sole traders who plan, shoot, edit and post alone.
  • Anyone who wants fewer, better pieces and less time lost between them.

What it helps you do

  • Decide what a piece is for before you make it.
  • Keep every idea in one place, with the effort it needs.
  • Capture several pieces in one set-up.
  • See, on one page, where every piece stands this month.
  • Use each finished piece more than once.
  • Keep what earned attention or enquiries, and stop making the rest.
